That's why the 1st step in looking at Connect bugs for SP1 was to set aside DCRs (Change Requests), and to focus on defects.

Someone with the mindset of a Dilbert reader, however, might assume that wily critters are already looking for ways to climb over, tunnel under, sneak around, or chew a hole through a policy of that nature. "It's not a new feature, it's a bug fix!"

PLEASE do more I just bought an SSIS 2008 book and it is ok but being 800+ pages takes time to get through. These videos show how to maneuver BIDS a lot better than a book can. Thanks and please do some with script transformations if possible someday. gracias!

This is a strange one isn't it? As I said about a while back "The result of the expression has to be, in itself, a valid expression" (blogs.conchango.com/.../SSIS_3A00_-Dataflow-expressions.aspx).

Slighty bizarre really!

The coming SAP BI connectivity components WILL be released on the Feature Pack Web page.

The Oracle and Teradata components will be released for download on a separate Web page, around the same time.

This is not the best venue for technical questions. I suggest that you get to know the Integration Services forum at forums.microsoft.com/.../ShowForum.aspx.

Your solution will require an SSIS expression to concatenate a dynamic filename. One solution is described in this forum thread: forums.microsoft.com/.../ShowPost.aspx.

Best wishes,

Having created a SSIS package, the output was in the form of an Excel file, which worked.

The requirement is for output Excel file to be created in the form such as "filename" + Systemdate.xls as that would allow newly generated names. This did not work. How do I generate new Excel file names at runtime.

Thanks

I am not sure what you mean by "appending", if you are starting with an empty workbook and worksheet. However, if you started with a sheet into which the driver once loaded data, then it still considers those rows as "used".

Cell formatting is an issue in the worksheet and not an issue with the driver. There are not "read-only" formats in Excel, although it's possible to "protect" a worksheet to prevent certain types of changes. I'm sure that the driver outputs datetime data in the default format for the locale, unless you have already formatted the column otherwise.

I have two issues with Excel and SSIS

Sometime the data is appending on the excel sheet. Do you know how to overcome this. I delete the .xls and create the new.xls from a template each time when the SSIS runs.

Second issue is, one of the dates field , is not changing its datetime format. I can't even edit the format even though I can delete it and change. I want the format mm/dd/yyyy. do you have any idea on these issue?.

thx,

In Excel 2007, this checkbox is titled, "Extend data range formats and formulas". I don't have Excel 2003 installed to find the equivalent option.
