Just when I thought that I was finally finished with our Setup-related topics! Those wily Setup folks added items to the "Feature Selection" page in the SQL Server 2008 Setup Wizard since I last installed a Katmai build. A couple items need our attention:
Client Tools Backward Compatibilty does not install the DTS runtime support. (Please see this post.)
Client Tools SDK lays down on disk the managed assemblies needed for Integration Services programming. Otherwise, these assemblies are installed only in the global assembly cache (GAC).
Management Tools - Complete installs Management Studio support for Integration Services. This had to be broken out to support the Engine-only version of SSMS for Express folks.
